SRIDA SELA, PODPEĆ, ČOVIĆI, MRAVIČIĆI, ŠEVELJI, ŠIMIĆI, PODSTUP are the hamlets of Tučepi, and most are no longer inhabited. In the 1960s, most of the residents of these settlements moved a few kilometres to the south, towards the sea, to meet the needs of tourism. Only a handful of taverns (konoba) remain in function.
For the past seven years, we have been organising CULTURAL events in the stone ambience of our history, bringing the theatre and other arts expressed through verse, music, the paintbrush and more to our roots.
Our hamlets are becoming an important venue for plays, exhibits, recitals and concerts. They have become a haven, taking us back to more dignified times. There, at least for a while, we can lend ourselves to a different kind of beauty.
